What is it?

Glogster is a glog that is created using a very easy to understand, drag and drop interface that is relevant, enjoyable, and scalable for students of all ages and learning styles. A Glog is an interactive visual platform in which users create a “poster or web page” containing multimedia elements including: text, audio, video, images, graphics, drawings, and data.

Glogster Cons

  1. Network Restrictions: Many school districts prohibit sites like Glogster because they are associated with social networks.

  2. Price for Better Features: While Glogster and Glogster Edu are free, Glogster Edu Premium comes with a price: $11.95 per teacher for a single license, good for one month; $99 for one teacher, a single license, good for a year or $8.25 a month; $2 per student for a school license, per year. Edu Premium allows more classroom management options, more student members, class messaging, unlimited future updates, drawing over Glogs, extra graphics, no advertising, and document attachment.

  3. Time: Creating a Glog can be time consuming, especially if you are new to the program. A Glogster lesson may take several days and several hours of work time. With teachers and students pressed for time, this could cause added challenges and stress!

  4. Server Overload: Not all school districts or homes have servers which can handle the load from Glogster; server crashes or a slow network could make students and teachers very frustrated.

  5. Tech Support: Glogster does not come with a manual. Members must consult the “Community Support” page for help. The support page is a blog with questions and answers from other members. Users may struggle when trying to solve a specific technical issue.
